This week, July Programs Chairman, Jim Stapleton, will bring a great program of interest to club members and guests.
Next week’s luncheon program speaker is Connie Oliver of the Way Green Local Fare Market at Okefenokee Heritage Center, 1460 N. Augusta Avenue, Waycross, Georgia, featuring local handmade and homemade products for sale on the first Saturday of each month May – November. Invite a guest to hear the speaker and meet our friendly members.

2017-2018 OFFICIALS INSTALLED

On June 29, 2017 at 12:30 p.m., President Michael Ray and other officials’ terms of office expired after a very successful year. 2017-2018 Officers installed by Mr. Sidney Blanton, Georgia District Exchange Clubs President included Roger Collins, President; Major Chris Tatum, President-Elect; Summer Stipe, Secretary; Bill Deason, Treasurer; Larry Paulk, Assistant Treasurer; Michael Ray, Immediate Past President; and Jimmy White, Vice-President of Fairgrounds. Board of Directors (1 year) installed were Daniel Warren, Clarence Billups, Priscilla Christopher, and (2 Year) were Jeff Jones, Robbie Roberson and Billy Dowling. Awards were presented to: Daniel Warren for Erin W. Johnson, Outstanding Exchangite; Will Higginson for Ben Thornton, Most Congeniality Award; and Santo Nino (Alex) for the M.C. Thomas Outstanding Fair Workers Award for Chairing the Parking Committee resulting in un-congested parking. A president’s award was not given due to, many members helping when asked. Congratulations to our new officers and award winners!!

MOST CONGENIAL EXCHANGITE WILL HIGGINSON

Roger Collins, President, presented Waycross Exchange Club’s Ben Thornton Award to Will Higginson for being most congenial Exchangite this last year. Congratulations, Will.

GINGER PEAGLER “EXCHANGITE OF THE YEAR”

Outgoing Waycross Exchange Club President, Michael Ray presents the club’s prestigious “Exchangite of the Year” Award to outgoing club secretary, Ginger Peagler, at last week’s Installation of Officers and Awards meeting last Thursday. Congratulations, Ginger for keeping our ship straight!

DANIEL WARREN PRESENTED OUTSTANDING EXCHANITE AWARD

President Michael Ray presented Daniel Warren with the Erin W. Johnson Award for Outstanding Exchangite.

WAL-MART NEIGHBORHOOD MARKET

Wal-Mart Neighborhood Manager Jason Christmas told our members of the Waycross Exchange Club Thursday, July 6 that he’s preparing his Plant Avenue store on-line grocery shopping within the next six months. Wal-Mart opened its first Neighborhood Market in 1998 and is now the nation’s largest grocer with annual sales of $219 billion. He said, WalMart is sponsoring the newly formed Blackhawk football team and the YMCA’s summer feeding program at the Scout Hut.
